Podcast: PF exposes coup plotting around Bolsonaro – Folha – 02/09/2024 – Podcasts

The operation launched by the Federal Police this Thursday (8) exposed new evidence and the structure of the coup at the Bolsonaro leadership. Military personnel —including four-star generals and former Force commanders—, former advisors and former ministers, the president of the PL and Jair Bolsonaro himself were targeted by the corporation.

The PF is investigating an attempted coup to keep Bolsonaro in power. The investigations, authorized by Alexandre de Moraes (STF), were based on the testimony of former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid and evidence found in his equipment. On the lieutenant colonel’s computer was a video of a meeting in which the then president and ministers discussed coup scenarios. Evidence also came to light that Bolsonaro had requested and approved changes to a coup draft.

The revelations allow us to establish a kind of chronology, with steps that would include the call for protests, the mobilization of the military and even a plan to arrest Moraes. This Thursday, Bolsonaro told Folha that he is the target of “relentless persecution”. Allies of the former president also criticized the operation.
