The 31st March for Jesus brought together thousands of people in the streets of São Paulo this Thursday (8), Corpus Christi holiday. On their knees on the asphalt, the faithful accompanied the prayer of the apostle Estevam Hernandes, the creator of the event. “This mighty force that is here is the strength of the church, and against it the gates of hell will not prevail.”
The edition had fewer authorities and a less political tone than that of 2022, an election year. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) did not attend, but was represented by his minister of the AGU (Attorney General of the Union), Jorge Messias. A mention of Lula generated a collective boo. Hernandes then intervened. The apostle asked everyone to pray for the constituted authorities in the nation.
The former president, Jair Bolsonaro, who was the first Chief Executive to go on the March, did not appear this year. Of the figures identified with Bolsonarism, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, who was applauded, and the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court André Mendonça were at the event.
