The Federal Police operation carried out last Friday (11), which included search and seizure warrants targeting allies of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), can be seen as the one that comes closest to the former president so far in the legal siege that closes against him.

Baptized Lucas 12:2, it was authorized by Alexandre de Moraes, within the scope of the investigation of the digital militias of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). According to the minister, the PF investigations indicate the suspicion that Bolsonaro used the structure of the federal government to divert high-value gifts given by foreign authorities and receive cash, in operations that would not go through the formal banking system.

The goods would be sold in the US and would have been taken by assistants on the plane that transported the then president days before he left office. Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former assistant, and his father, reserve general Mauro Lourena Cid, as well as second lieutenant Osmar Crivelatti, would be involved in the scheme. Another target of the operation was lawyer Frederick Wassef, who has already defended the former president.

The PF asked for the breach of banking and tax secrecy of the former president and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. After the operation, Bolsonaro’s defense denied that he had appropriated and diverted public goods. Mauro Cid’s lawyer, who said he had not yet had access to the investigation files, left the case. And the lawyer Frederick Wassef claims that he is being lied to, that he only learned about the jewels through the press, and denied having participated in the scheme.
