After a week marked by new clashes with the Central Bank and Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was betting on the long-awaited trip to China to reap a positive impact on the government’s agenda in Beijing.

The PT would meet with leader Xi Jinping and sign a series of agreements, but the plans were crossed by a health problem. Diagnosed with mild pneumonia last Thursday (23), Lula first postponed his departure from Saturday to Sunday and then had to cancel the trip – now his departure is expected from May, on a date yet to be confirmed.

When he can return to the internal agenda, the president will have to recalculate some plans to alleviate the wear and tear accumulated in the last week. Lula’s behavior in a kind of “stage mode” bothered even allies, especially when he said that he saw Moro’s “framing” in the case in which the Federal Police dismantled a plan by the PCC criminal faction that had the senator as one of its targets.
