This Thursday (15), Novo em Folha publishes the second installment of the Americas podcast. This is a news, interview and analysis program on political and social events in the region, carried out by journalists Sylvia Colombo, columnist for Sheetand Sebastián Fest, correspondent in Buenos Aires for the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo”.
The Americas podcast, broadcast in Spanish, is a good opportunity for journalists and others interested in better understanding the region and learning more about the language spoken in almost all of Latin America, with Brazil as one of the exceptions.
In this episode, the two journalists analyze the possibility of a return of Donald Trump to the US government and how this would impact Latin America, compared to what was done in the Joe Biden administration. It also anticipates predictions of the Mexican election next year, highlighting the entry into the race of former Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard. President López Obrador’s party won the regional elections and conquered the State of Mexico, the traditional stronghold of the PRI, the hegemonic party in Mexican politics for no less than seven decades.
Finally, it deals with the visit of the Uruguayan Luis Lacalle Pou, somewhat secretly, to the White House, where he met with Joe Biden. The debate stems from the fact that Biden seems to have found interlocutors more aligned with his way of thinking in the leaders of Uruguay (Lacalle Pou) and Chile (Gabriel Boric). More than the leaders of big countries like Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina. Why?
The Americas podcast will bring, every week, three topics for debate; in general with material from its own investigation and interviews with protagonists of the news, such as presidents, candidates, chancellors and analysts.
The graphic part of the project was created by the Thema studio.
