Ministers of the Federal Supreme Court used this Thursday’s session (23) to react to the approval in the Senate of the PEC that restricts the court’s monocratic decisions. A Sheet showed that, behind the scenes, magistrates called the stance of government parliamentarians treason and said that the case could harm dialogue with the Planalto.

One of the targets was the government leader, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), who voted in favor of the text. He later stated that the position was “strictly personal”. Representative Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), president of the party, said that Wagner made a mistake and that the party must act to reject the PEC in the Chamber.

The approval of the PEC is another chapter in a dispute between the Senate and the Supreme Court. This Thursday, the president of the STF, Luís Roberto Barroso, cited democratic setbacks in other countries and said that the court sees no reason for changes in its functioning. Gilmar Mendes and Alexandre de Moraes reinforced the messages to the Legislature.
