Damares confirmed kinship

Brasilia DF) – The plane seized in Belém (PA) with 290 kg of skunk (potentiated marijuana) belongs to the Quadrangular Church of Pará, whose spiritual leader and executive secretary is an uncle of Senator Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF). Former federal deputy and pastor Josué Bengston was in charge of the aircraft collected by the Federal Police (PF) at Belém airport, this Saturday morning (27).

The advice of Senator Damares Alves confirmed to Metrópoles the family connection with the pastor. In addition to being Josué’s niece, Damares even worked in her uncle’s office in the 1990s, when he was elected federal deputy.

In a note, the parliamentarian highlighted that the complaint about the drug load on the plane was made by the Foursquare Church itself.

“Senator Damares Alves confirms that former federal deputy Josué Bengston is her uncle. About the operation carried out by the Federal Police in Belém, this weekend, the senator learned this morning through the press. Damares Alves contacted the family and was informed that the complaint to the Federal Police about a suspicious cargo loaded on the aircraft was made by those responsible for the plane, that is, by the Church itself. Then, the Federal Police took over the case and took the appropriate measures,” she said.

The Quadrangular Church-PA admitted, in a statement, to be the owner of the plane seized by the PF. According to the corporation, the marijuana would be taken on the single-engine plane out of the state, but, before takeoff, at 7:30 am, the incident occurred.

During the police approach, the man identified as responsible for the cargo tried to flee, but ended up arrested. According to the PF, the drug occupied all the space available on the aircraft, leaving only the passenger and pilot seats free. Details of the crime will be investigated based on an open inquiry.

Police intelligence found evidence that the shipment was destined for Petrolina, in the hinterland of Pernambuco.
