Planalto will target those who evaluate Lula’s government as regular – 02/04/2023 – Politics

Based on the assessment recorded by Datafolha that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has the approval of 38% of Brazilians and disapproval of 29% after three months in office, the Planalto Palace outlined a strategy to target the portion of the population which he considers the government to be regular.

The result of the survey was well received by the Planalto Palace this weekend. The second member of the Planalto heard by the Sheetthe focus now shifts to the 30% slice in the middle zone.

Minister Alexandre Padilha (Secretary of Institutional Relations) said in a publication on social networks that the result of the Datafolha survey “shows the strength of the new government”. According to him, Lula “put care for the Brazilian people in the first place and the population sees that”.

In Planalto, there is an understanding that the actions taken in the first 100 days of the government, such as the resumption of the programs Minha Casa, Minha Vida and Mais Médicos, dialogue mainly with the electorate of the PT government.

There is an assessment that Datafolha’s numbers show that the goal of retaining this public has been achieved.

As for Brazilians who evaluate the Lula administration as regular, members of the current administration consider that a significant portion has a positive expectation regarding the government in the future.

The idea now is, with new programs and actions, to reach this public to improve the perception that the electorate has of the Lula government.

In the opposition, Ciro Nogueira, former Minister of the Civil House (Bolsonaro government) and leader of the minority in the Senate, expressed an opposite understanding. He said that the survey “proves, beyond any reasonable doubt, that the Lula government is a paper tiger”.

“Even with all the coverage absolutely in favor (unlike Bolsonaro’s beginning), the government is already going downhill. Conclusion: the government cannot withstand a month-long crisis of criticism. It melts.”

Deputy from the governing base, Orlando Silva (PC do B) stated that “Datafolha on the beginning of government shows that the country remains polarized, as, incidentally, is visible to the naked eye”. “However, the 38% of excellent and good are second only to Lula and Dilma 1. 30% of regular is approval bias”, he stated.

The result of the survey shows the disapproval of Lula equal to that registered by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) at the same time of his government, in 2019, thus repeating what was the worst performance since the 1985 redemocratization among presidents in the first term.

There, in the midst of several crises, the ex-president scored 30% bad/terrible, but was less approved than the PT, with 32% excellent/good. It was regular for 33%.

Another 30% consider Lula’s management to be regular now. 3% were unable to answer —among the 2,028 voters interviewed by the institute from Wednesday (29) to Thursday (30) in 126 cities. The margin of error is plus or minus two points.
