The president of the CNJ (National Council of Justice), Minister Rosa Weber, announced last Friday (31) the creation of regional representatives of the National Women’s Ombudsman and the designation of two magistrates for this function in the Electoral and Military courts.
The initiative is considered an increase in female participation in the CNJ in pursuit of gender equity in the Judiciary. Currently, more than 60 courts in the country have Women’s Ombudsman.
“The idea is to have a representative in each region so that they can collaborate with the work of the National Ombudsman”, informed Weber.
There will be a regional representative in the various segments of Justice (federal, state, labor, electoral and military).
During the ceremony, TRT-4 judge Tânia Regina Silva Reckziegel, the CNJ’s first female ombudsman, was honored.
The new national ombudsman, TST Minister Maria Helena Mallmann, said that the activities of these units now include, in addition to procedural issues, cases of harassment, child labor and situations similar to slavery.
“We listen to and welcome citizens, most of whom are in vulnerable situations. We forward their complaints and collect data with the aim of contributing to the formulation of institutional policies,” said Mallmann.
The following judges will be representatives of the Regional Women’s Ombudsman:
Tânia Regina Silva Reckziegel (TRT-4), in the South Region;
Daisy Maria de Andrade Costa Pereira (TJ-PE), in the Northeast Region;
Lígia Cristina de Araújo Bisogni (TJ-SP), in the Southeast Region;
Gilda Sigmaringa Seixas (TRF-1), in the North Region;
Jaceguara Dantas da Silva (TJ-MS), in the Midwest Region.
The female ombudsmen appointed by the CNJ for the segments of the Electoral and Military Justices are, respectively, the judge Nilsoni de Freitas Custódio (TRE-DF) and the federal military judge mariana Queiroz Aquino.
The National Women’s Ombudsman was established through Ordinance 33, of February 8, 2022, by the presidency of the CNJ.
The function of the National Women’s Ombudsman will be exercised by a member of the Judiciary, appointed by the President of the CNJ for a period of one year, with reappointment permitted.
