PL will finance event promoted by Eduardo Bolsonaro – 09/19/2023 – Panel
The Instituto Álvaro Valle, linked to the PL, will sponsor the fourth edition of Cpac Brasil, the main event of the Brazilian right, which will take place on the 23rd and 24th of September in Belo Horizonte (MG).
Inspired by a meeting that has taken place since the 1970s in the USA, Cpac was brought to the country by federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) in 2019. The main organizer is the Instituto Conservador-Liberal, which he presides.
The initial idea was to finance the event by charging for tickets and sponsorships. With the PL institute’s decision to pay the costs, the entrance fees already charged, at the price of R$140, will be refunded. 1,500 participants are expected.
“It’s a matter of synergy. The mission of the PL foundation is to work for the dissemination of conservative values in Brazil, and Cpac is the biggest conservative event in the country. This partnership, therefore, makes perfect sense”, says Sérgio Sant’Ana, president of ICL.
He states that he does not know how to specify the value of the sponsorship of the body linked to the PL. The Álvaro Valle Institute is financed with resources from the party fund. Last year, it received R$1.45 million from this item, which is public money.
In 2019, the first edition of Cpac Brasil, in São Paulo, had financial support from the Indigo Foundation, linked to the extinct PSL, at the time the party of Jair Bolsonaro. The cost was R$800 thousand.
The Cpac program is still being finalized, but it will feature Bolsonarian politicians, activists and influencers. The presence of the former president himself is likely. The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), was invited, but has not yet confirmed that he will go.
The PL was contacted by the Panel, but did not comment.
