The PL, PP and Republican parties announced on Wednesday (25) the formation of a bloc to support the candidacy of Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) for the presidency of the Senate, a position currently held by Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). , who will run for re-election in a vote scheduled for February 1st. The formalization of the agreement should take place on Saturday morning (28).

The union took place after a meeting between Marinho, the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, the president of the Republicans, Marcos Pereira and Senator Tereza Cristina, of the PP. “The PL/PP/Republicans block gives political muscle to Rogério Marinho who wants to rescue the independence and protagonism of the Federal Senate, if elected”, says a note from the PL.

With the election for the Senate presidency undecided, every one of the 81 possible votes is important. To win them over, Pacheco and Marinho have had the support of their respective “shock troops” to organize campaigns and ask for votes.
