PL goes through deadlock on adherence to Corsan’s CPI

Keeping the balance for the opening of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) that can investigate the privatization of Companhia Riograndense de Saneamento (Corsan), the PL bench in the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Sul continues without defining whether it will join the commission. The possible signatures of the party’s five state deputies would be decisive for the initiation of the inquiry.

On Tuesday, the party’s bench met to discuss the issue and there was no decision. The objective was to remove a single position from the bench, but the stalemate continues.

Officially, the PL communicated that “the caucus requested a deepening of the advisory’s technical analyzes and will await new manifestations from the State Court of Auditors (TCE) for later deliberation regarding the signature of the request”, by means of a note.

Internally, the bench would be divided. Three deputies would be willing to sign the opening of the CPI while two would be more reluctant.

The party claims that it believes that privatization is the best alternative for sanitation in the state, but that, in order to be successful, there needs to be a solid and transparent process.

He also mentions the precautionary action in the TCE preventing the signing of the contract “due to suspected inconsistencies”. “In addition to the TCE, the Court of Justice and the Regional Labor Court have injunctions with the same impediment”, postulates the letter signed by the PL bench
