PGR opposes bolsonaristas on censorship of Folha and Globo – 06/01/2023 – Politics

The PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) took a position against a request by 19 federal deputies of the PL for Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), to censor the Sheet and Grupo Globo companies, in addition to including them in the fake news survey.

In a statement sent this Thursday (1st), the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic said that parliamentarians aligned with former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) do not have the legitimacy to formulate the request with the court.

“The petitioners [deputados] lack ad causa legitimacy, an indispensable subjective condition for the initiation of proceedings before the Federal Supreme Court, considering the formalized requests”, said Lindôra.

The representative of the PGR said that it is not intended to curtail the right of congressmen to present the application, but that “the appropriate route would be to direct it to the Attorney General’s Office, where it would be treated and examined as News of Fact”.

The request of Bolsonaro’s allies is related to the Fake News PL, a proposal currently being processed in the Chamber of Deputies. The application was presented in the investigation records that investigate the performance of big techs.
