PGR files action requesting Janones resignation based on false tweet – 02/16/2023 – Panel

The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araujo, ordered to archive a representation of the citizen Vítor Silva Figueiredo who asked for the resignation of the federal deputy André Janones (Avante-MG).

The request was made based on the reproduction of a false tweet, in which the parliamentarian would have promised to hand over the position if former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) beat the record reached by president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) days before in a podcast interview.

In the play, Vítor demands the “fulfillment of the affirmation” of challenge that Janones would have supposedly launched “of his own free will”.

Lindôra cites a report from the UOL-Confere page to attest that the alleged tweet was false. “It should also be noted that, even if it were a true statement, it would not be considered a criminal offense. Although one could criticize the words attributed to parliamentarian André Janones, criminal conduct resulting from them would not be verified”, he adds.

During the 2022 election campaign, Lula had reached a record 1 million simultaneous viewers in an interview given to the Flow podcast.

Supporters of the former president organized themselves and surpassed the mark days later in the interview given to the LTDA Intelligence podcast, with 1.7 million people following simultaneously.
