CUT criticizes the minimum wage announced by Lula and says that workers are being harmed – 02/16/2023 – Panel

The CUT negatively received the announcement made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), one of its founders, that the minimum wage will be R$1,320 starting in May.
President of the largest trade union center in the country, Sérgio Nobre claims that the value should be R$ 1,382.71 and that the entity was not heard by the new government regarding the subject —criticism also made by leaders of Força Sindical.
In a note, Nobre says that the CUT considers that the increase announced by the PT party member is neither expected nor sufficient and that the calculations by Dieese (Inter-union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies) show that, if the minimum wage valuation program had not been interrupted, the appreciation should be 6.2%, raising the figure to R$ 1,382.71.
“It is the strength of the workers that moves the Brazilian economy. We will not settle for the current proposal nor applaud those who are harming us”, says Nobre.
