The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) asked the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) for reports made on the Covid-19 pandemic during the management of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The agency’s intention is to investigate a complaint made by the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo that the former president supposedly hid warnings and information about the epidemic in Brazil.
According to the PGR, the purpose of the request is “to evaluate the reports to verify if there is any new fact”. Under secrecy, such reports produced by Abin are dated from March 2020 to July 2021. In addition to the agency, the documents also have stamps from the Institutional Security Office (GSI).
At the time they were produced, they were intended to alert the government about the advances of the disease in the country. The documents even made recommendations on how to control the Covid-19 epidemic.
