Interlocutors of the former president informed that his defense will try to postpone the testimony until the lawyers receive more information about this inquiry.

Brasilia DF) – The Federal Police (PF) summoned, this Tuesday (22), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to testify about the case of businessmen who discussed the possibility of a coup d’état through WhatsApp. The deposition is expected to take place next Thursday (31); the PF has already sent the official letter to the defense, as found by the CNN. The information comes from sources familiar with the investigations.

Interlocutors of the former president informed that his defense will try to postpone the testimony until the lawyers receive more information about this investigation. Sought after, Bolsonaro did not manifest himself until the publication of this report.

In a decision dated August 18, the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes ordered the shelving of the investigation against six businessmen who were caught in a WhatsApp group talking about the possibility of a coup d’état. However, he maintained against two others: Meyer Nigri, from Tecnisa, and Luciano Hang, from Havan.

In the group of businessmen on WhatsApp, there was a suggestion that a coup d’état would take place if Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) won last year’s presidential election.

As revealed by the analyst of the CNN Caio Junqueira on Monday (21), the Federal Police saw a link between former president Bolsonaro and businessman Meyer Nigri in the dissemination of fake news about the electoral system.

The assessment is included in the decision by Minister Moraes. In the same decision, Moraes granted the police 60 days to take steps against Hang and Nigri.

The filing reached entrepreneurs José Isaac Peres (Multiplan shopping chain), Ivan Wrobel (Construtora W3), José Koury (Barra World Shopping), André Tissot (Sierra Group), Marco Aurélio Raimundo (Mormaii) and Afrânio Barreira (Coco Bambu Group ). At the time, Moraes understood that “no robust evidence was found” against them.

The former president has already been heard in four other investigations since he left office. He has already spoken to the police about investigations into the Saudi jewels given to him as gifts, about the coup acts of January 8, about fraud in vaccination cards and about an alleged coup d’état plan.
