PF seeks three more suspects of participation in coup attacks on 1/8 – 03/07/2023 – Politics

This Tuesday (7) the Federal Police are carrying out three arrest warrants and eight search and seizure warrants against suspects involved in the January 8 coup acts.

Diligences are carried out in the Minas Gerais cities of Alpinópolis, Areado and Passos and in Curitiba, Paraná, within the scope of the 7th phase of the Lesa Pátria operation.

As in the other phases, the action takes place within the inquiries opened by the PF after the attacks on the buildings of the three Powers by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The facts found, according to the PF, may constitute crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of a specially protected asset.

The PF targets four fronts in open investigations.

One of them targets possible intellectual authors, and it is this front that can reach Bolsonaro. Another aims to map the funders and those responsible for the logistics of the camp and transporting Bolsonaristas to Brasília.

The third focus of the PF investigation is vandals. Investigators want to identify and individualize the conduct of each of those involved in the depredation of historic buildings in the federal capital.

The fourth line of investigation advances on authorities that were omitted during the 8th of January and that facilitated the action of the coup plotters.

These investigations gave rise to the seven ostensible phases of the operation to date.

On January 20, the PF launched the 1st phase of the Lesa Pátria operation and served eight arrest warrants. One of the targets, Raif Gibran Filho, was approached at his residence, but jumped from the second floor through a window and fled.

Three days later, in the second phase of the action, a scammer identified for breaking Dom João’s watch at the Planalto Palace was arrested.

On January 27, another 11 arrest warrants were served in the 3rd phase of the operation. In Santa Catarina, Maria de Fátima Mendonça Jacinto Souza, 67, known on the networks as Fátima de Tubarão, was arrested.

In the 4th phase, on February 3, one of the three targets of an arrest warrant was Lucimário Benedito Camargo, president of the Chamber of Shopkeepers in Rio Verde (GO), known as Mário Furacão and who recorded a video during the invasion of the Palácio do Highland.

Days later, on February 7, the operation caught up with possible missing authorities and arrested four military police officers from the Federal District. Among them, Colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime Barreto, then head of the Operational Department of the Military Police of the Federal District.

On February 14, the 7th phase was carried out and eight preventive arrest warrants and 13 search and seizure warrants were served in Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Sergipe and São Paulo.
