This Tuesday morning (7), the Federal Police carry out the seventh phase of Operation Lesa Pátria, which investigates groups suspected of participating in the acts of January 8 that culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.

In this new phase, three arrest warrants and eight search and seizure warrants are served in the states of Minas Gerais and Paraná. According to the investigations, the targets are alleged financiers or promoters of the acts or, even, would have failed to contain the demonstrators.

According to the PF, the suspects can be indicted for the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of specially protected property.

Until the last phase of Operation Lesa Pátria, launched in mid-February, the Federal Police served 25 warrants for preventive arrest, three for temporary arrest and 50 for search and seizure.

In the previous phase of the operation, one of those arrested preventively was the former head of the Operational Department of the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), Colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime Barreto, responsible for drawing up the security plan to contain the demonstration. He was off duty on the day of the protests and was dismissed shortly after the decree of federal intervention in public safety in the Federal District.
