PF does not identify action by factions in Yanomami land – 06/19/2023 – Panel

Investigations by the PF (Federal Police) into the crimes committed in the Yanomami indigenous land do not point to the activity of large criminal factions.
The police even identified the presence of some members of factions, but with isolated actions. According to investigators, land invasion and illegal mining in the region are not part of the organic structure of these criminal organizations.
Initially, federal government officials saw evidence of the groups’ participation in the indigenous land.
The Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, went so far as to declare that she saw support from drug trafficking in maintaining the remaining illegal mining sites.
“The insistence on staying, even with all the efforts to convince people to leave peacefully, is a demonstration that there are very powerful economic forces behind this criminal action. potent, food supply”, said Marina during her trip to Roraima.
