The Federal Police carried out, this Friday morning (7), three search and seizure warrants against a group suspected of moving more than R$ 80 million with the illegal purchase and sale of gold by front companies in the Amazon from mines in Roraima.
According to the investigations that led to the Vanglória operation, the group would be led by a Guyanese businessman who would work in the mining industry in the country for suspicious activities in Brazil.
The police investigation indicates that the suspect would be the owner of a company that, on paper, would sell foodstuffs. However, at the address, in Manaus, there is only one vehicle shop with another CNPJ.
“The Guyanese businessman would still use a Brazilian partner, also targets of investigations, to move values through other shell companies. Only one of them, which would trade hospital supplies, but has no activity at the registered address, would have moved more than BRL 60 million”, says the PF in a statement.
The operation, according to the authority, seeks to clarify whether the values moved originate only in gold smuggling activities from Guyana or whether the businessman was illegally exploring mines in indigenous areas in the state of Roraima.
