PF asks Moraes to question Valdemar about draft – 01/31/2023 – Power

This Tuesday (31) the Federal Police asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), for authorization to question the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, about the draft of a decree for Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to introduce state of defense at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).

A copy of the document was found by the PF three weeks ago at the home of former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres, as revealed by the Sheet. Torres, who was also Secretary of Public Security in the DF, is the subject of an investigation that investigates possible omissions by public authorities regarding the coup attacks on January 8.

In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, Valdemar said that several members and interlocutors of the Bolsonaro government had proposals similar to the draft of the coup in their homes.

“That proposal that was in the Minister of Justice’s house, that was in everyone’s house”, he said, adding that Bolsonaro “did not want to do anything outside the law”.

The objective of the document would be to reverse the result of the election, in which Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) won. Such a measure would be unconstitutional.

The PF’s request was made in the inquiry that has among those investigated, in addition to Torres, the governor removed from the DF, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), the former executive secretary of Public Security of the DF Fernando de Sousa Oliveira and the former commander of the Military Police Fábio Augusto Vieira.

The former head of Public Security and Vieira are under arrest by order of Moraes.

This Monday (30), the minister asked the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) to give an opinion on a request by the military police for the arrest order to be revoked.

Vieira’s defense brought to the attention of the court unpublished images from the National Congress security camera circuit that show the former PM commander acting to contain the coup demonstrators who were trying to invade the building.

The PF asked Moraes to return, after the expertise for data extraction, the cell phones spontaneously presented to the corporation by the investigated.

This was not the case with Torres. When he turned himself in to the police, upon returning from a vacation trip to the United States, he did not have the device. Investigators try to recover data through the cloud or remotely.

In addition to the investigation being processed by the Supreme Court, the Electoral Justice also evaluates the content of the document found at Torres’ residence.

The electoral corregidor, Minister Benedito Gonçalves, included the draft of the coup in an action in which the former president is investigated for attacks on the ballot boxes in speech to ambassadors.

The decision responded to a request from the PDT, which, last week, filed a petition for the document to be attached to the investigations regarding the meeting with foreign representatives at which the then head of the Executive.
