The Federal Police arrested three suspects of helping inmates who escaped from the Mossoró Federal Penitentiary, in Rio Grande Norte. During the searches this Thursday (22), the PF executed nine search and seizure warrants in the cities of Mossoró, Quixeré (CE) and Aquiraz (CE).

On the 14th, Rogério da Silva Mendonça and Deibson Cabral Nascimento, linked to Comando Vermelho, escaped from the maximum security prison.

In a statement, the Ministry of Justice reported that in Mossoró the PF served a temporary arrest warrant and another arrest was carried out due to an open warrant. An arrest was also made in the act in Aquiraz after agents found drugs, weapons and ammunition during searches of a residence.

“Cell phones and a vehicle were also seized, which was allegedly used to help criminals supply weapons to be used in the escape,” said the ministry.

Around 600 security forces agents are working to recapture the two fugitives. The police increased the search perimeter and are now looking for the fugitives on the border between Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará.
