PF arrests five people for environmental crimes in Araribóia indigenous land (MA)

Five people were arrested this Monday (12) during a Federal Police operation in the Araribóia indigenous land, in four municipalities in Maranhão. The warrants were fulfilled in an action that will last 15 days to combat environmental crimes in the demarcated area.
In addition to the arrests, the authority inspected and seized 12 sawmills. The operation, of an ostensive nature, provides for the repression of environmental crimes, drug trafficking and other illicit acts in the indigenous land and surroundings.
The operation in the Araribóia indigenous land is made up of more than 150 public agents and takes place in the municipalities of Grajaú, Arame, Buriticupu and Amarante.
In addition to the PF, agents from the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Resources (IBAMA), National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples (FUNAI), Military Police of the State of Maranhão, Military Fire Brigade of Maranhão, Environmental Police Battalion and brigade members also participate. from ICMBio.
