Petrobras reaffirmed this Wednesday (31) its intention to drill an oil well on the coast of the state of Amapá, in the region of the mouth of the Amazon River, but denied that it already takes the release of the environmental license by Ibama for granted (see in full) .

In a statement published this morning, the state-owned company says it is awaiting the decision of the municipality on the request for reconsideration of the refusal to release the licensing for drilling the well, claiming that it is located 175 kilometers away from the coast of Amapá and 560 kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon River.

The company also said that a mapping of the site to be drilled “confirmed that there is no sensitive area within a 500-meter radius of the location of the well”.

“In this sense, the company has been making every effort to obtain this drilling license in block FZA-M-059, where it is committed to operating safely and with total respect and care for the environment and the region’s population”, he added. Petrobras in the statement.
