Manaus (AM) – Rita Lee already sang in one of her biggest hits, “love is forever, sex too”. The rock classic, from 2003, precisely reflects the normality and naturalness of sex during life. According to Doctor Sebastião Nascimento, psychologist and sexologist, sex is necessary for a healthy, long-lived and, of course, pleasurable life.

“The person with an active sex life is healthier. I even advise, sometimes people come home from work, tired and don’t want sex, but if she takes a good shower and has a good relationship [sexual], it is obvious that sleep becomes even better, it has more quality, because sex releases melatonin, the sleep hormone and helps at night. So, in fact, people who have sex regularly, safely, with love, they tend to be happier people”,

says the doctor.

Nascimento comments on some of the health benefits of sex. The first one is cardiovascular protection, the heart gets stronger for everyday life. Other benefits are: reduction of stress, longevity, weight loss aid, improvement at bedtime, skin tone, in addition to factors linked to love relationships and blood health.

“The first benefit of sex is the improvement of the cardiovascular system, which is of paramount importance. There is also the issue of longevity, people who have sex regularly tend to have more longevity. This is a fact. The matter of mood, improves mood, improves skin tone, improves hormones, intensifies serotonin and oxytocin, the hormones of love. It intensifies testosterone, being a hormone of paramount importance for both men and women in terms of strength. Another factor of great importance in the sexual aspect is the union of the couple and blood purification, in addition to contributing to weight loss. These are some of the most important factors of a satisfactory sex life”,

explains.

For those who are concerned, the doctor says there isn’t an average of how many times a week you need to have sex to get the benefits of the practice. “There is no right average amount of sex per week. But, it is estimated that at the peak of reproduction, we are talking about people between 18, 30, 35 years old, it is normal to have three or even more intercourses per week. In a way, if that relationship is cohesive, it’s healthy. In fact, scientifically proven, Brazilians are the people who have the most sex in the world. ”

Types of sexual relations

According to the sexologist, there are five practices linked to sex. The first is sexual intercourse involving payment, “whose aim is only physiological satisfaction”. The other is sexual interaction or no-strings-attached sex, “you meet someone and for some reason you had a sexual interaction with them, but it’s nothing major”.

There is also sexual behavior that involves non-consensual sexual activity, “it is sex that is not pleasurable, it is rape, pedophilia, sex without consent, it is called behavior”.

Complete sex, on the other hand, is when, at the time of the sexual act, one was totally fine and calm, and the other intermittent, did not have an apex, but was happy to have participated in the pleasure of the other. According to Nascimento, the most important thing, of great value, is sex with fullness, “reaching fullness in sex means that the person finishes the act, being well physically and psychologically”.

The specialist says that it is not necessary to reach orgasm to consider sex as satisfactory. “Regardless of whether an orgasm occurs or not, the couple can, yes, have an interaction, a sexual act, totally pleasurable and not be worried about the orgasm, we classify this moment as having sex with fullness.

sex in old age

An active sex life is important for health among the elderly.

Nascimento developed a technique to improve the sex life of older people.

“For older people, a very important tip is to practice ‘sexual intermittence’. What would sexual intermittence be? It’s you, at the time of the act, to run away from orgasm for a day or two and leave it to have an orgasm on the third day. So, this third day is obviously going to be intense, the orgasm is more intense, the desire is more intense. Then everything gets better. It’s a technique I developed, there’s even one in my book, I developed it a while ago. So it works really well.”

it says.

Tip to improve sex

It may seem like an obvious tip, but the doctor says that something that can greatly improve sexual practice is dating. According to the sexologist, a lasting love relationship leads the couple to know each other better and understand what the other likes.

“A very interesting technique to improve sex is to keep the dating issue in mind. Many people say to me, ‘ah after 5.7 years sex is no longer important, like beans and rice’. It’s not true, sex is learned behavior, so if you maintain that dating addiction, creating certain conscious barriers, sex becomes more important, more pleasurable”,

taboos

Even with advances, research and studies, Nascimento points out that there are still many taboos and prejudices when it comes to sex.

“There is, indeed, a lot of taboo in relation to sex, because sex is learned behavior and nothing is theoretically resolved. It is still studied, we study a lot about sexuality, we develop new techniques. Most people don’t know each other, so there are a lot of taboos. That’s why we, as sexologists, are always open to meeting possible demands to be helping people to demystify some misconceptions regarding sex”,

scores.

Finally, Sebastião recommends reading the book “The Philosophy of My Existir”, a success in Brazil, released in August 2022, to answer questions about your sex life.
