Pelé will be honored in the opening round of the Brasileirão and Série B

The first round of Series A and B of the Brazilian Championship will be marked by tributes to Pelé. The king of football, who died in December, will be honored with various actions organized by the CBF to exalt his importance and memory. It all starts this Friday (14th), with the kick-off for Guarani and Avaí, at Brinco de Ouro, in Campinas, for the access division.
There are several tribute actions planned by the CBF, ideas from the president of the entity, Ednaldo Rodrigues. The captains will play with armbands made especially for Pelé tributes. Even the referee coin for setting sidelines and kickoff will be stylized.
Before the opening whistle for the games, the organizers will ask for a minute of applause in the stadiums in reverence for the idol. The players will be profiled in the central circle. The CBF also promises to print images of the only three-time champion in the world on the advertising signs around the lawn.
The series of tributes, designed by Ednaldo Rodrigues, can be repeated throughout national competitions. “Pelé is the greatest player of all times and will always be revered by the CBF. The legacy of the King of Football will be perpetuated”, stated Ednaldo Rodrigues.
The tributes in Série A will take place from this Saturday, when the current champion starts in search of the second title in a row at Allianz Parque, against Cuiabá, at 4 pm. At the same time, they will be facing each other, in Belo Horizonte, América-MG x Fluminense.
The tributes continue in the games at 6:30 pm, with Botafogo x São Paulo, Red Bull Bragantino x Bahia, Athletico x Goiás and Fortaleza x Internacional. The day of matches ends at 9 pm, with Atlético-MG x Vasco.
On Sunday there will be three more clashes: Corinthians x Cruzeiro and Flamengo x Coritiba, both at 4 pm, and Grêmio x Santos, at 6:30 pm. The game in Caxias do Sul should be more emotional due to the fact that Pelé shone with the Santos shirt.
