The Democratic Labor Party (PDT) made official this Monday (23) its support for the re-election of Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) as president of the Senate. Pacheco met with the Minister of Social Security and licensed president of the party, Carlos Lupi, in Brasília.

“For us at the PDT, Mr. [Pacheco] represented a milestone that is very dear to us in politics. Honesty, seriousness, respect for minorities. Elegant, but firm, it helped to guarantee, in many moments of difficulty that we experienced in the previous administration, democracy, the representativeness of the votes and their independence”, said Lupi.

The pedestrian senators Weverton Rocha (MA) and Leila Barros (DF) and federal deputy Márcio Honaiser (PDT-MA) also participated in the meeting. The election of the Board of Directors of the Senate will take place on February 1st. Senator-elect Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) and Eduardo Girão (Podemos-CE) should also compete for the presidency of the House.

In the social networks, Pacheco thanked the PDT for its support. “The announcement of the PDT endorses my administration, characterized by work in favor of the Brazilian people, democracy, and legitimizes our commitment in the defense of social achievements, but without forgetting fiscal responsibility, and with the implementation of the reforms that the country crave,” said the senator.
