Lawyer Paulo Campelo was interviewed this Saturday morning, January 27th, on the program ‘Togas and Becas’ (Rádio Diário FM 90.9), presenting himself as a pre-candidate for president of the OAB-AP, in succession to the current manager, Auriney Brito. The election will take place next November.
Campelo, who was vice-president of OAB-AP, from 2010 to 2013, and president twice consecutively, from 2013 to 2018, said on the program that he no longer wanted to hold a position in the entity, but that he is trying now, after receiving an invitation from a group of former presidents and having consulted his family about the importance or not of running.
“I was invited by a group of former presidents. I asked them for time to consult my family about the matter. Afterwards, I met with the former presidents again and asked them for three months to consult the bases. I spoke individually with 250 lawyers. And now I’m presenting myself as a pre-candidate”, described Paulo Campelo.
The lawyer claimed that the class’s biggest cry is for respect and dignity. “There is a lack of pulse in the management of the OAB of Amapá. This is the main role of the Order manager; not cowardice, but courage. Today we feel that there is weakness in the system for protecting lawyers’ prerogatives”, vented the interviewee.
Paulo Campelo recalled that he was once alongside President Auriney Brito, but that he is now running because the situation is different. According to him, the idea is the same as before, but the functionality is not, because today there is more exclusion than inclusion of lawyers in the system of prerogatives.
