Passed over by the PSB, Paulo Câmara leaves the party – 01/27/2023 – Panel

The former governor of Pernambuco Paulo Câmara announced this Friday (27) his departure from the PSB, a party to which he had been affiliated for eight years.
While thanking the partnership in a letter addressed to the president of the party, Carlos Siqueira, the background is dissatisfaction with the articulation of the PSB that prioritized the appointment of Márcio França to the first echelon of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) .
The party rallied around the former governor of São Paulo in the expectation of being awarded Cities, but ended up with Portos e Aeroportos, which is more restricted to São Paulo.
The annoyance is even greater with the directory of Pernambuco that, according to interlocutors, neglected the wing of the party with more muscle. By nominating France, the chances of federal deputy Tabata Amaral increasing as a candidate for mayor of São Paulo increase.
Another reason for Câmara’s resignation is the signal he received from Lula that he should preside over the Banco do Nordeste. Current legislation provides for a quarantine of at least 30 days for party leadership positions to assume the presidency of state-owned companies. The former governor was also the national vice-president of the PSB.
In the letter addressed to Siqueira, Câmara recalls that he entered the party at the invitation of Eduardo Campos and had the “difficult task” of succeeding the “best governor in history”.
“At the same time that I completed the honorable task of being governor of Pernambuco, I also concluded my party history with the PSB”, he announces.
