Brazilian deputies and senators will travel this Wednesday (15) to Washington DC, capital of the United States, in order to show North American parliamentarians situations that have put democracy in Brazil at risk, many of them related to decisions of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
“We have a letter talking about censorship and the lack of freedom, and we collected about 120 signatures of deputies and senators”, said federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) to Gazeta do Povo.
According to him, the letter will be delivered to the country’s authorities and mainly to the presidents of Congressional Committees, such as Jin Jordan, from the Justice Committee. The Brazilian delegation will also try to meet with deputies and try to schedule an audience with Mike Johnson, new president of the US House.
On November 16th, Brazilian parliamentarians intend to visit the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS) to denounce abuses recorded in Brazil. “We are just waiting for confirmation of the time”, informed Eduardo.
Also included in the delegation are federal deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), Julia Zanatta (PL-SC), Altineu Cortês (PL-RJ), Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and Capt. Alberto Neto (PL-AM). Senators Girão (Podemos-CE) and Jorge Seif (PL-SC) are also part of the group.
