Parliamentarians opposing the government presented this Wednesday (29) a proposal to the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate the activities of criminal organizations in the country. The initiative was announced this afternoon at the Green Room of the Chamber of Deputies.

The proposal is supported by federal deputies Coronel Meira (PL-PE), Delegado Ramagem (PL-RJ), Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR), Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) and senators Styvenson Valentim (Podemos-RN), Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS), Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) and Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR).

“The CPMI Request presents as justification the fact that criminal organizations have been, for a long time, causing terror in the population, which lives in a state of alert and fear, in addition to the fact that drug trafficking generates stratospheric profits for the criminals who , to maintain and expand their vested interests, have acted with ever-increasing boldness and cruelty,” the group said in a statement.

The parliamentarians cite the recent actions of factions in Rio Grande do Norte and the plan to kidnap and execute public authorities, including Senator Sergio Moro. “The opening of a CPMI in which the Senate and the Chamber work together, as a firm response to organized crime, is more than necessary to investigate these recent actions and investigate in depth the most diverse ramifications”, says the note. .
