Brazil secured its second Olympic spot in women’s surfing in Paris 2024 with the classification of Tainá Henckel from Santa Catarina at the ISA Games World Surfing Games (acronym in English for International Surfing Association). This Thursday (29), the sixth day of competitions in Arecibo (Puerto Rico), Tainá advanced to the stage and won one of the eight female places distributed in the team competition. The first female spot in Paris was secured by surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb from Rio Grande do Sul in April last year.
Now the country has a total of 157 places in the Paris Games. And this number could increase in the coming days. In the men’s competition at the ISA Games, Brazil continues to have a chance of expanding the two places already won by Filipe Toledo, Filipinho, and João “Chumbinho” Chianca.
The World Surfing Games, the last competition that allocates places to Paris 2024, runs until Sunday (3). The team competition brings together representatives from more than 50 countries.
