This Sunday (23), the Paralympic athletes from Amapa who were competing in the Brazilian Paralympic Under-17 and Under-20 Championship, in São Paulo, landed in Macapá with their suitcase full of gold, silver and bronze medals. The competition was organized by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and sought to identify new national talents in the sport.
The para-athletes, from state and municipal schools, won 57 medals, 33 gold, 15 silver and nine bronze. In order to make it possible for the competitors to travel to São Paulo, the Municipality of Macapá helped to pay for the tickets.
the parathlete Isaiah Matthew was one of the students who attended the event. “Participating in the competition was exciting. There were several athletes who did their best to bring a medal to the state. This is important”he said.
The president of the Federation of Parasports of Amapá, Arlam Gomes, thanked the City of Macapá and Mayor Furlan for their support. “The City Hall was fundamental for guaranteeing the tickets. Without this support, we could not get there and be champion in the Under 17 Category, be third in the Under 20 Category, receive five trophies for athletes being one of the best in the events”.
The athletes were welcomed by parents, friends and relatives. In addition, the delegation was received with a circle of marabaixo.
