Pacheco rejects electoral fund of R$5 billion and says it may not be voted on in the Senate – 12/21/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), has expressed irritation with the possibility of the electoral fund for next year reaching around R$5 billion, the same amount as last year’s election.
Pacheco told House leaders that he defends the same value as the 2020 municipal election (R$2 billion), adjusted for inflation. The argument is that municipal and national elections are different, and therefore spending cannot be the same.
He has warned leaders that if the Chamber maintains the higher value, the text may not be voted on by the Senate.
