Pacheco counters Gleisi and says that labeling PEC that limits STF only serves “extremists”

The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), responded on Tuesday night (24) to the criticism he received from the national president of the PT, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), regarding the processing of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution ( PEC) that limits individual decisions of ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Earlier, the parliamentarian stated that Pacheco “is doing a service for the extreme right” by guiding the PEC.
For the president of the Senate, “trying to label a legislative proposal as right-wing or left-wing in order to disqualify it, in addition to being simplistic, is a mistake.” Gleisi criticized the processing of the proposal. “The hasty way in which PEC 08 has been processed seems like retaliation that diminishes the Senate. Unfortunately, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco is doing a service for the extreme right”, said the deputy.
“This is the great recent evil in national history that I have been combating, as this type of argument feeds back on polarization, which only interests some (the extremists). I have always defended harmony between the Powers”, said Pacheco, in a statement. He highlighted that “the establishment of laws and constitutional rules is the responsibility of the Legislative Branch”.
“The PEC has been in progress since 2021, is on the agenda in regulatory form, and will remain in place for as long as necessary for its maturation. There is no rush, no rushing. It serves to improve Justice, whose bodies have always been publicly defended by me, from judges to ministers, from the Common Court to the Electoral Court. I will continue to do so, but without denying my prerogative to legislate well”, added Pacheco.
