The São Paulo Cup final will no longer be held at Pacaembu, as initially planned. The game would mark the reopening, albeit partial, of the stadium.
The stadium is still under construction and will not be able to host the match on March 25th. The announcement was made this Monday (16) by the FPF (São Paulo Football Federation), together with the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure of the City of São Paulo and the Concessionaire Allegra Pacaembu, responsible for the stadium.
“The decision was taken after careful analysis by everyone involved, with priority given to the safety and comfort of clubs and fans”, says the note, which also informs that the FPF “will observe all security issues and technical criteria to announce the new location of the final”.
The Allegra Pacaembu Concessionaire informed that the modernization and restoration works “continue at an accelerated pace” and that the reopening of Pacaembu will take place in phases throughout the first half of 2024. “The company also informs that the progress of the works continues within contractual deadlines and that Pacaembu will be back for the 2025 Copinha, completely renewed”.
