Opposition deputies managed to gather the necessary signatures to file a new PDL urgency request No. 3/2023, which aims to suspend the decree that restricts access to weapons, issued by President Lula.

The new request is to reverse the defeat of December 6th, when the urgency was denied due to the lack of 3 votes, in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies.

“We obtained the necessary signatures and filed the urgent request for PDL 03/2023, which suspends the decree on access to Lula’s weapons.”, stated deputy Rodolfo Nogueira (PL-MS), author of the new urgent request.

According to Nogueira, the minimum number of 257 supports were guaranteed after the signatures of the PL leader, deputy Altineu Cortes, and the PP leader, deputy Dr. Luizinho, since when signatories represent the entire bench.

Despite the support of the PL leader, at least 10 federal deputies from the party voted against or abstained from voting on the urgent request presented by Altineu Côrtes (PL-RJ) to consider a decree that would suspend the effects of the decision.

The co-authors of the urgency are deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), Sargento Portugal (Podemos-RJ), Messias Donato (Republicanos-ES), Mauricio Marcon (Podemos-RS) and Caroline de Toni (PL-SC).

Deputy Sergeant Portugal praised the presentation of the new urgency request. “A law-abiding citizen needs to have their right to self-defense guaranteed. Unfortunately, we were unable to approve the urgency in the last vote, but we will try to reverse this situation with the new urgency.”, he declared.
