Opposition denounces Dino to PGR and triggers STF to obtain images

Opposition parliamentarians filed this Tuesday (15) a complaint to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, for malpractice. They accuse Dino of failing to comply with the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), by not sending directly to the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) on January 8 the images of all the surveillance cameras of the Palace of Justice that were requested by members of the collegiate in several requests.

According to the representation, it was evident that the “repeated non-compliance with these requirements occurred deliberately”. It was argued that the deadline expired on July 18 was followed by disrespect for the postponement of deadlines, only partially met after Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized the sharing of images by transferring secrecy.

“However, more than a month after the approval of the requirements, it appears that they have not yet been fulfilled, which is why it is clear that Dino already had several opportunities to do so, having deliberately opted for non-compliance”, reinforces the document.

The parliamentarians also presented to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) a writ of mandamus to guarantee immediate access to the video images. Check here the complete, in PDF, of the complaint and the writ of mandamus.

The denunciation was signed by 15 members of the opposition at the CPMI on January 8: deputies Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), André Fernandes (PL-CE), Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), Evair Vieira de Melo (PP-ES ), Filipe Barros (PL-PR), Marco Feliciano (PL-SP), Maurício Marcon (Podemos) and Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), and senators Cleitinho (Republicanos-GO), Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF), Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Jorge Seif (PL-SC), Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), Magno Malta (PL-ES) and Marcos Rogério (PL-GO).

Opposition meets with Deputy Attorney General

During the press conference on the complaint filed at the PGR against Flávio Dino, senators and opposition deputies again protested against the minister’s resistance and demanded respect for the commission and the STF. The group met with Deputy Attorney General Lindôra Araújo, who promised to consult the head of the body, Augusto Aras, absent from Brasília, to verify whether or not the procedure should be opened.

“The prevarication needs to be investigated, as everything indicates that Minister Dino is guided by personal interests, disregarding his constitutional missions that require transparency and cooperation. His reluctance jeopardizes the work of the CPMI and a legal procedure needs to advance”, said Senator Jorge Seif (PL-SC). According to him, the Minister of Justice is obstructing and sabotaging investigations, an antagonistic posture to the position.

Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES) called Dino’s stance a “mockery” towards the CPMI, which has its own powers to demand that its demands be met. “Why so afraid? The information that the National Force was in place in the parking lot of the Ministry of Justice makes it even more important to ascertain the facts”. Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) regretted that the armor set up by the government aimed to protect powerful people from investigations.
