This Wednesday morning (19), the Ministry of Justice and the police of five states are executing ten warrants for provisional detention against young people suspected of threatening to attack schools in five states of the country. Operation Safe School is carried out in Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Pernambuco and Paraná.
Investigations began after an attack that took place at the beginning of the month in Blumenau (SC), which killed four children and left five others injured. The purpose of the operation, triggered by the state Public Prosecutor’s Office, is to comply with court orders issued by the Childhood and Youth Court of the city’s District regarding provisional internment warrants and home search and seizure against adolescents involved in attacks on Brazilian schools.
According to the ministry, the investigation pointed out that other people were making threats on social networks involving acts of violence. Through social media, Minister Flávio Dino said that the operation is carried out “so that we have greater effectiveness in preventive and repressive actions”.
In addition to the ten provisional arrest warrants, 13 search and seizure warrants and 11 removals of data secrecy regarding the adolescents are also carried out.
