The São Paulo Fire Department continues to search for a man who disappeared due to the heavy rains that hit the coast of the state last week. The search had ended at the end of the week, but they were resumed after requests from family members.

The search focuses on the region of the Vila Baleia Verde neighborhood, in the city of São Sebastião, where 64 people died due to landslides and floods. One death was also recorded in Ubatuba.

According to the state government, 57 bodies have already been identified and released for burial, 21 adult men, 17 adult women and 19 children.

Since the beginning of this week, the Fire Department has also been actively searching for people reported missing who may be in shelters in the region. There are still 2,400 homeless or displaced people.

In all, more than a thousand people, including military police, firefighters, Civil Defense technicians, health professionals and military personnel, work in the region.

There are still about 20 points with partial ban on the region’s highways and a total ban on SP-098 Mogi-Bertioga.
