On World Agriculture Day, celebrated this Wednesday, March 20, state deputy Junior Favacho (MDB), President of the Agriculture and Supply Committee (CAB) of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), highlighted the contributions of his mandate to the primary sector, especially agriculture. He celebrated the progress of the productive sector, but highlighted the continued need for advances to transform Amapá into a production hub and generator of jobs through agriculture.

With a long history of involvement with the primary sector, Junior Favacho has intensified its efforts since the beginning of this legislature by assuming the presidency of the CAB. The commission has stood out for promoting debates relevant to local agriculture, presenting propositions that benefit the sector and working side by side with rural producers in the search for solutions to the challenges faced daily.

“Our mandate has worked intensely to contribute to the economic development of Amapá, and we understand that agriculture is one of the keys to achieving this objective. Therefore, we opened an important dialogue channel with producers to understand the main difficulties they face and seek solutions to unlock this sector. We have enormous potential to transform Amapá into a producing state, generating jobs and income for our people, but we need to work hard to make this dream come true”, he stated. And the fruits of this work are beginning to appear.

Main contributions

  • Proposal to create a Working Group (GT) presented to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), Irajá Lacerda, with the objective of proposing improvements to the land regularization process for rural producers. The objective is to speed up the transfer process of federal public land and contribute to effective land regularization in the state.
  • Proposal to create SuperFácil do Agro presented to the state government with the aim of bringing together in a single physical space all the public bodies necessary in the process involving the sector.
  • Proposal to build a Supply Center in Macapá to facilitate the logistics and marketing of agricultural products, especially family farming.
  • Journey through Brazil: parliamentarian has sought to attract investments for agriculture in Amapá, learning about successful initiatives in other states, in addition to inviting investors from Brazil and the world to learn about the state and existing agricultural potential.

“Despite the progress made, we know that there is much to be done to explore the state’s agricultural potential and build a prosperous future. We believe that the state is experiencing a new moment of turning point in the productive sector and we see the interest of the government and the political class in this process. Therefore, it is important to continue working hard to achieve the desired goals.”concluded Junior Favacho.
