Nunes’ allies in the PSDB will hold an act to support the mayor – 03/10/2024 – Panel

Leaders and members of the PSDB in the city of São Paulo plan to create a movement of “pro-Ricardo Nunes (MDB) tucanos”, with an act initially scheduled for March 19th.

The group includes people who were close to former mayor Bruno Covas, who died in 2021, and now work at city hall. The objective is to prevent the party from launching its own candidacy or allying itself with Tabata Amaral (PSB).

At the end of February, the bench of state deputies from the PSDB-Cidadania federation met and decided to announce support for Nunes’ pre-candidacy. The deliberation took place after the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, stated that supporting the emedebista is at odds with the PSDB’s project of representing an alternative in the national political context.

To the Panel, the executive secretary of the emedebista office, Fábio Lepique said that “Leite and his minions want to demolish Bruno Covas’ project”.

The governor’s objective, according to him, is to create his own platform in the capital that could serve to project a possible presidential candidacy in 2026, even if this could favor the candidacy of Guilherme Boulos (PSOL).
