Minister Jader Filho (Cities) dismissed Hildo Rocha from the position of executive secretary of the department. Both are affiliated with the MDB.

Hildo said he was taken by surprise: “I found out about the dismissal from the Official Gazette.” The act of dismissal of the emedebista was formally published this Friday (12) and is signed by President Lula (PT) and the minister.

Former deputy for Maranhão, Hildo was unable to be re-elected in the 2022 election. He was then nominated by the party to be number 2 in the Cities portfolio, one of the most targeted by the political class for carrying out works in the areas of urban mobility, sanitation and housing.

The ministry is also responsible for executing parliamentary amendments, funds that deputies and senators allocate to projects in their electoral strongholds.

Jader did not appoint a replacement for the position of executive secretary. On an interim basis, the role was carried out by the deputy secretary, Antonio Vladimir Moura Lima.

Because of his contact with Congress, Hildo was also a reference for parliamentary demands in the ministry.

Government members say that his resignation is due to differences with the minister regarding the allocation of department resources.

But a wing of the ministry says that Hildo would have left to take the position of coordinator of the MDB bench in the Chamber for matters related to tax reform.

The party announced that he will carry out this work in a statement after his resignation.

To allies, the former Secretary of Cities states that this has nothing to do with the dismissal. He said he is awaiting an explanation from Jader Filho about the dismissal.

MDB members deny that the dismissal is related to an internal party dispute over positions, as occurred at the beginning of the government, even delaying appointments at the Ministry of Cities.
