Conquest was assured by law sanctioned by the Government of Amazonas, at the beginning of the month

The Novo Airão Manatee Ecofestival was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State of Amazonas. The achievement was ensured by Law No. 6,717, of January 4, 2024, approved by the Legislative Assembly of Estrado do Amazonas (Aleam) and sanctioned by the governor of Amazonas Wilson Lima, on the same date.

Article 1 establishes that the Ecofestival of Peixe-Boi de Novo Airão is declared as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State of Amazonas. According to the Sole Paragraph, it is up to the Executive Branch to adopt the appropriate measures for the registration of material and immaterial assets, in accordance with the relevant legislation.

For the mayor of Novo Airão, Frederico Júnior, the achievement consolidates the Peixe-Boi Ecofestival as the second cultural event and tourist attraction in Amazonas.

“We are just grateful to the State Legislative Assembly and, above all, to the State Government for recognizing the work of the Jaú and Anavilhanas groups and cultural appreciation of our Ecofestival which, after the approval of the Law, becomes an intangible heritage of Amazonas. This is a commitment to the development of Novo Airão, which is on its way to becoming a model city in the Region”.
