Considered one of the most traditional amateur football competitions in the municipality of Santana, the 2023 Interbairros Championship reached its decision last Saturday (25) in a game held at the Aerpa field. In a busy confrontation, the Nova Brasília team defeated the hosts, Paraíso, by a meager score of 1-0, becoming champions of the event.
The disputes in search of the title began in August, with the participation of representatives from 24 teams that represented neighborhoods in the municipality. The previous year, Ilha de Santana had been the winner, but this year it was eliminated. In the grand final, Nova Brasília and Paraíso played a very competitive game from start to finish.
With plays concentrated in midfield, the match became truncated, with many fouls and little creativity in the attack, taking the plays to the wings. It was only in the second half that Dantas took advantage of an oversight by Paraíso’s defense and secured the Interbairros 2023 title.
“Without a doubt, it is a great achievement. It had been a long time since Brasília had won the title and now it worked. Congratulations to our entire team and now let’s celebrate. We thank you for organizing the competition that revived last year, a very important championship for us”said the Nova Brasília full-back, Major.
Organized by Santana City Hall, through the Sports and Leisure Secretariat, Interbairros recorded a great average attendance at the match venues, with fans supporting the neighborhood teams. Biraga Rocha, head of the portfolio, evaluated the competition positively and highlighted that next year the incentives should continue.
“Since last year, we managed to rescue Interbairros, a competition that was not held for seven years. The population loved it and this year, once again with our support, we managed to hold an excellent competition. Congratulations to all teams, especially the champion team. With God’s grace, next year we will have Interbairros even stronger and more organized”said Biraga.
The acting mayor, Isabel Nogueira, followed the final match and reinforced the commitment to encourage and support sports practiced in the municipality.
“It’s always great to see people filling the stands. I would like to thank all the efforts of our teams who ensured the safety and conditions for this final. Long live Santana!”concluded.
