Nine out of ten analysts see Bolsonaro weakened after coup acts, study shows – 01/22/2023 – Panel

The coup acts carried out by bolsonaristas on January 8 had a negative balance for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who lost political strength after the attacks, in the view of nine out of ten analysts consulted in a study carried out by the economy website InfoMoney.
The Barometer of Power survey was carried out between January 17th and 19th with 14 analysts.
For 92% of analysts, Bolsonaro emerged weakened from the coup acts of January 8. On a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 means very weak and 5 means very strong, Bolsonaro had an average of 1.69.
Only the retired governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), and the former Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District, Anderson Torres, had a worse rating – 1.08 and 1, respectively.
Of the ten political actors evaluated by the study, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was seen as the one most strengthened by the coup acts, with an average response of 4.38. Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), received 4.31.
Among the ministers, the holder of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), had the best average score among the analysts, with 3.69. Defense, José Múcio, had the worst rating (2.08).
The study also measured Bolsonaro’s strength in the field of the right. According to 43% of analysts, the former president will be the main opposition figure to Lula over the next four years. However, 36% cite the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo). The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), appears with only 7%.
Finally, the group of analysts who see Bolsonaro as a strength in opposition to Lula fell from 33% to 7%, while the number of those who consider the former president weak or too weak to exercise this role increased from 41% to 57%.
