The national directory of the Novo party filed this Thursday (20) a representation at the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) asking that the former chief minister of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), Gonçalves Dias, be criminally prosecuted for alleged prevarication . This Wednesday (19), CNN Brasil released images showing the general inside the Planalto Palace during the invasion and depredation of the January 8 acts. After the repercussion of the images, Dias resigned.

“Even alerted by Abin about the risks of a violent escalation, the GSI dismissed the reinforcement of the presidential guard hours before the attack. Now, these images show its complacency during the invasion. There is no lack of evidence of the general’s omission”, stated the president of the Novo, Eduardo Ribeiro, in a note. The caption argues in the action that Dias “has omitted from his duty to adopt the necessary measures for the safeguard and protection of the Planalto Palace”.

Earlier, opposition parliamentarians also triggered the PGR against the general. The group asked the agency to assess the possibility of arrest for the former minister. “The parliamentarians demand equal treatment with the others prosecuted for the facts, asking that the former minister’s passport be seized and his preventive detention decreed”, says an excerpt from the joint note released by the parliamentarians.
