Five more states must adhere to the new National Identity Card, bringing to 23 the number of federation units that will issue it.

Ceará, Espírito Santo, Tocantins, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Norte join the 18 states that already issue the document —Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Piauí, Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Alagoas, Goiás, Amazonas, Acre, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Federal District, Pernambuco, Rondônia, Paraíba, Maranhão, Sergipe and São Paulo.

At the end of November, the government extended the deadline for adaptation for the second time, which now ends on the 11th. With the five new states, only Amapá, Bahia, Roraima and Pará will not have joined the new portfolio.

The new ID maintains the separation of the registration name and social name fields and has a field designated for “sex”, despite the government saying last year that it would abandon the points.
