Tool allows employers to pay FGTS via Pix

After six months of testing, the digital version of the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS Digital) comes into force this Friday (1st). Fully electronic, the tool will replace Caixa Econômica Federal’s Social Connectivity system, used until now by companies to send employees’ FGTS information.

The platform will allow employers to use Pix (instant transfer system) to collect FGTS.

The ordinance that regulates the implementation and operationalization of FGTS Digital was published in today’s edition of Official Diary of the Union. In total, 4.5 million employers will use the platform to manage the data of more than 50 million workers.

The government’s expectation with the new system is to generate savings for companies, by reducing bureaucracy and time to feed FGTS information, and provide more transparency about the fund’s deposits for workers.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, FGTS Digital will improve system reliability by speeding up the conversion of deposits into the worker’s individual account balance.

FGTS Digital will use e-Social (electronic employee database) as a database and will also integrate information from Pix Caixa, Portal Gov.br and other systems. Fully operated over the internet, the system will have several options for generating guides and will be responsible for the entire monthly FGTS payment and the payment of terminations and termination fines.

Other new features of FGTS Digital are the speed of paying FGTS in arrears, with the possibility of collecting several months in a single tab; the automatic calculation of the FGTS fine, based on the e-Social remuneration history; and the automatic restoration of salaries from previous periods and payment of compensatory compensation.

The new platform will also have an option for workers to take out loans directly from banks, without consulting their employer. The borrower will use the payroll as collateral.
